Hmm i dont think he's looking for food. He just stays around, breathes quite fast and keeps moving the front part of his disc up and down.

i knew mantilla was going to come up lol. doubt it has any mantilla in it though unless wild caught as alot of hybrids come out looking like that then change over time.

I'm sure that's what "mantilla" is a natural occurring hybrid. Like you said lots of hybrids look like this.
So actually I think all these in OP are hybrids.. lol

I wouldn't worry about the lip flapping as much as I would worry about food. I always started mine on "night crawlers". My rays could never resist worms but yours can be different....good luck on some awesome looking rays!

yea man did quite a few wc just in case. got some blood worms off the lfs and they went for it :) im pretty at ease now seeing them eat cos good appetite = healthy ray (most of the time) haha! nxt will be soaking MP in those blood worms to get them going :)

man tried the soaking of fish meat and mp in blood worms but they still wont touch them, only going for the worms :/ i need to fatten them up with some feeders cos that's the only thing they eat :(

Try cut up night crawl first. Put night crawler inside the cup and using the designated scissor to cut them up. After they eat cut up night crawler, then you mix cut-up night crawler with cut-up market prawn (with the skin peel off) in the big cup (so you do not have to do it all the time). Make sure you mix them well and leave it in the freezer. When feeding, you take it out about 15 minutes to half an hour before (for it to soften up) and using the scissor to break it off and feed them. If none of them touch the cut up shrimp, then for the first few days, you can supplement with cut up night crawler one or two hours later (but do not feed a lot). We want to keep them hungry, but no need to starve them to death. Soon you can see they begin to munch on cut-up MP, then I reduce the amount of cut up night crawler slowly during mixing, and before you know it, they will eat cut up MP only. This method works for me all the time and it takes a couple days to two weeks the most. I feed my rays mainly frozen MP since it is convenient and easy for me. Hope it work for you..
