what kinds of feeders ? please don't say goldfish, read the piranha nuitrition thread there's an interesting section on thiaminase poisoningrelating to the feeding of goldfish to piranhas

I have been keeping rbp for 5 years this may. I have one "full grown" rbp that is easily 12 inches long in a 45 and he loves it.

don't say he "loves" it you don't know what fish love.

besides you'd love living in a closet too if it's all you've known (not saying tank is too small or anything just making a point; a 45 is fine for an adult RBP)

those are getting some nice colour on them now nice p's

yes i am feeding goldfish gutloaded with a large variety of things. It is my only option at the moment. I have 10 convicts that i am breeding in my 30 gallon that will eventually be feeding my RBP. Massivore pellets on the way from big al's. I had a heck of a time finding them after i got a sample from a friend.

He seems to enjoy himself as much as a lonely piranha can. his tank is WAY over filtered and has many small plants and large plants to play in.

the little guys and gals are doing great and will be busting out of this tank in no time. anyone have any ideas as to how long?

massivore pellets are great i use them too ! im breeding convicts too they're so fun to watch raise there babies and make a great snack for piranhas because cichlids are what they would be feeding on naturaly, but mine are lazy and have only eaten one of the convicts that was in with them and theres atleast 30, 0.5 inch babies growing out with their parents in my 29 gallon. So they better start chowing down on the cons soon or im going to have a problem)

typicaly piranhas grow about an inch per month until about 6 inches then they slow down to maybe 2 inches a year so at about 5-6 inches at the latest then they are going to need an upgrade

how many pellets do you think these little guys will consume daily? I think they are well fed but i dont have anything to compare it to. they will eat up to 5 goldfish in a day if i let them but i usually limit them to 3 or 4 to get them to clean up the mess

mine are pretty big and i like to feed em till their bellies buldge but at your size id say per fish maybe 2 pellets. According to the label each pellet has the calories of 1.2 3 inch goldfish (or something like that) and alot more nuitrients.

that is great. i cant wait the 5 days for them to get here

On a side note. i just put up a bit of tape with 1 inch and 1/2 inch markings so people can see the size of the fish. it is a little hard to see so i will have to make the next one darker.

Watch the plants in the front. I added diy yeast co2 about a week ago. The little plants in the front are off-shoots and just started exploding in the past 2 days. 5 new leafs today. i NEED to find my charger for my camera so i can doccument the growth.

Thanks for all the info.

Awesome live cam  great idea, thanks for sharing

:/ you need a bigger tank for the little darlings, i have 2 red bellies around the same age and size, i keep them in a 35 also and i still think it's too small of a tank for them as of now :(

I would tend to agree but I find the 2 large pumps that run the built in sump provide a large current and they can often be seen swimming against the current right near the pumps.
The deal I had for a 135 gallon fell through so my 5 month plan will gave them in 180 with a 90 within 2 months. I have been planning for these guys for about a year now.

Thanks for checking it out.
