I'm recently growing out some fry from a male electric blue carpinte X Gus red spot X red Texas female. So far a lot of them are coming along very nice. Had to cull a bunch that were still nice just to grow out nicer ones do to limited space. So far largest ones is about 3.5-4 inches and smaller. Here's my favorite grow out right now. My buddy's call him blue face haha. Just seeing what you guys think of this guy?

Wow, it looks absolutely amazing, you should definitely try to breed more and line breed them! He also looks like he is starting to grow a Nuchal Hump.

Thank you cichlids keeper. Im planning to breed him back to mom as soon as he gets large enough. His mom is about 8 inches and is about 9 years old lol.
Wow that's an old red Texas! I assumed they were like flowerhorns and didn't live as long as naturals! What traits are you going for? Actually is he proven fertile? It seems like he has a lot of vieja in him and when hybridized they aren't fertile/take some time to become fertile.

I really wanted to bring out the vieja finnages into the short face and the pearls of the carpintis. Sorry had to remove that photo. It was on accident.
Lol, it's okay, I was just joking. Those sound like good goals, hope the project goes well. You should probably think of a name for the line so you don't have to repeat the rt + carpintis + red spot all the time.

Thanks again. Lol. I don't have a name planned for the project it was just something I decided to do since I had the fishes so mine as well try it to see what the out come was. I've been trying different crosses lately with no good results but this one was a random try and it came out better than the rest. More projects coming in the future.
