Just get rid of the RD. What do you want, a single fish in a 150 or a community tank? Get rid of the RD and you can keep it a community tank. To me that seems like the easier option.

I don't see anything wrong with a single, cool, personable RD in a 150. There is no doubt that he will grow into that tank, which i think is suitable for one 12-14" aggressive cichlid. Some people will keep a cichlid that size in a 48"x18" tank, but I don't think that it usually does the fish justice.

A full grown RD most likely will defend a territory larger than 6' square in the wild.

If you like him, keep him.

Maybe a female RD. A pair of RD's would be nice. That's what I would do if I were to keep the RD. But if you get rid of the RD you got alot more options.

The only problem with a pair of RD's is if they spawn you gotta do something with the babies.

i have mines in with a Jag ... their about 4 inches now . but the jag is da boss, i strongly suggest that you get a 6+ inch Jag and maybe a flowerhorn. good luck , don't waste 150G on one fish there over 1000+ cichlids out there maybe you'll like some africans ?
