My Red Devils head wont grow

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He/she looks just fine. I wouldn't change a thing. If its in a well maintained 65 by itself, it'll be fine. Bigger is ideal but let's be real. Colorwise, Midas/RD cover the spectrum between white, yellow, orange, red, and black. No two fish are alike.

Is coloration affected by diet? What do I need to do to increase his color?

i assume you had that midas when it was small and it was a lot redder than it is now, and as it grew it started to turn white?. you cant at change its color at this size unfortunately. you can make the bodyt color a bitmore pinkby feeding it hikari gold. but, then the results would be very very subtle.

Im havin same trouble with my male GT. Hes got no hump so i bought another male with a hump and threw him in. Now the GT that had a hump, hump dissapeared and the other gt still has no hump

Hes been pale since i got him as a little guy. He was more yellowish and is now pinkish. Whats the best way to sex him? Id like to eventually get him/her a mate

Remember...not ALL RDs are created equal...try the pellet food with color enhancers. does not always work if coloration is genetic. Looks like a she and if you have a nice one, it'll try and rip your hands off. I've got scars to prove it. you've got dark substrate so that's a plus on the color side...just let your RD decide what it wants to do.

ok posting another pics for sexing purposes. He has long pointy fins, which ive read some people say is a male indicator. He's also got a little thing sticking out by his vent but i dont know if females have that as well. I know with mammals a little dangly thingy means male, and although several people have already told me female im hoping I dont have to change his name lol

yours look like a white devil. i don't think you can change his color.

Looking for some advice here. I have a RD ive had for about 3 years. sHe is nearly a foot long and happy but she only has a little bump on her head. Her coloration also seems pale compared to lots of other RDs Ive seen. Is this just a genetic thing or is there something I can do?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Her water quality is good, I take special care to ensure that because I know that her tank is currently too small for him.

Compare that post to your post. It is a female. No hump=no balls.

And upgrade to a 75g.

A white devil? Thats what my militant uncle calls white people! So I guess I should start thinking about a new name for ole Pierre huh?
Any dissenting opinions to the female verdict?
