I wouldnt even be remotley worried about cal and mag if you have ammonia and nitrates that high...

I agree, wait untill your ammonia is gone. Then start on the other perimeters. Also I wouldn't do 9-10 fish, WAY to many. Maybe like 5-6 small-med fish, like clowns, wrasses, and maybe a Valentini and some sort of goby.

Hi I'm worried the copepods might be dead.... their not moving, just sitting on top of the sand bed. And after dropping them in I'm having an EXTREME Ammonia spike. I didn't add anything other than the smelly water that housed the copepods and the copepods themselves.... how do you know if their dead or alive? They were this way last night. They haven't moved in 12+ hours. Lights have been on for over 2 hours. My lights are on 12 hours and off 12.

If you have an ammonia spike they died. Your being impatient. How long has your tank cycled?

My tank isn't cycled. That's why I don't have any fish or invertz yet. The lfs employee said copepods would be ok in a cycling tank... But its been filled with water for about 2 weeks. Live rock and live sand were added the same day I filled the tank. Additional live rock was added recently though.

Those look like diatoms. Copepods are hard to see. They are only about .06-.08 mm
