My Red Texas Project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those 2 female RT's you have are awesome! I got 1 that looks very similar to yours. From mfk member (cjbarth) Have yours laid eggs yet? If so, breed your male escondido to either 1 of your female RT's, if your male is only an inch smaller your male should be tough enough to pair up with 1 of them. You ever thought about using a female red fader fh for your projects? Escondido x bp babies are looking nice, keep up the good work and good luck on all your RT projects. Keep us posted!

Thanks! Mine have not laid eggs yet. I just got the females comfortable in their new tanks. Female number 2 looks like her tube is partially down. I do have a Male Red Devil in there with her. He is still smaller than she is but I'm still hoping he intices her to lay eggs. I am going to try the biggest escondido male soon but he is a good two inches smaller than she is. I have not been able to get a female red fader fh. In my area and the cichlid group I belong to really don't like hybrids of any kind. So it's hard to get my hands on other hybrids....

Here is an update: My Beautiful Red Texas female ended up having the dreaded "Duck Lips" disease. We fought the disease for 3 months with constant water changes and Clout. She is fully recovered but has a depression where the whole in the side of her mouth was. She is eating and regained her beautiful color.

My 3 Red Texas juvies are growing nicely in a different 125 gallon tank. I added two other Red texas juvies to the mix in hopping one is a female to pair with the Proven Unfaded Red Texas male.
