Is it just me or is everyone recently grouping rose queens in the same category as flowerhorns...cause from what I know, rose queens are not fhs. They are more closely related to the blood parrot. Maybe LFS's are labeling fhs "rose queens" since it seems more exotic. I don't know, but they certainly aren't as aggressive as fhs. I currently have 6 of them (~four-six inches) in a tank with a bunch of smaller parrots doing completely fine.

Rose queens are known to be one of the most aggressive hybrids. Maybe your LFS sold you some blood parrots and told you they were rose queens?

Riley tell your sister to get her own tank, you're not getting rid of your fish, and it's never going to have tank mates.

here is a female I have that's about 7-8" and it's one of my favorite fish.

tell ur sister to get tetras instead they will be feeders and might last longer cuz of the speed.......... but the afican cichlids could be considered playtoys for ur rosequeen..........

My Red Dragon kills anything smaller, he has killed $200 worth of fry I was gunna sell, they were 2" he was 1.5", yeah, they are vicious from the start. He is now 4"+ and pretty soon he is gunna start trying to take out my bluegill and breeding group of yellow labs, hence why I am getting him his own tank.

Nope, they're rose queens; they look exactly the same as yours, except the red isn't as vibrant as yours is xD. Perhaps it's because my parrots and rose queens have been together ever since they were little, so they've been alright being together. Anyways, i think someone of this site said that synspilum x rd/midas = rose queens, and synspilum (w/ short body gene) x rd/midas = blood parrots. In this sense, rose queens aren't flowerhorns...

She is really aggressive and will kill any tankmates her size or smaller but she doesn't have much of a choice with this guy.

Eventually she might be able to take him but that's not going to be for a while..

and polarize yeah synspilum X midas is the ingredients to a rose queen but I think you're wrong about the parrots. Synspilums and red devils are also 2/4 of the main fish used to create flowerhorns so I'd say you're safe to say that rose queens are flowerhorns. And also.. Try feeding your rose queen some www.kensfish.com KENS PREMIUM SOFT&MOIST WITH KRILL PELLETS that is by far my rose queens favorite food and it makes her have great colors. I'm sure it would do the same for all of yours and it's only $6.25 a pound.
