My Round clear FBF......WHat do you think?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Same LARGE pool filter sand that I used on the bottom of my tank?

Ok I like what I see
I have been playing with the same idea for some time but just cannot come up with a good plan.I am after the same thing but would like to put pond Matrix in two of them with a 20-50 micro filter on the pump coming from the end of the sump. That way the matrix will stay very clean & one for a FBF filter as well with pool filter sand.

So I have a few Questions for ya
1.How do you get the media in there or remove it if it's glued together ?
2.How did you put a 1/4: deep cut to accept the tube as it must be round cut ?

I own a machine shop so the round 1/4 deep groove is a piece of cake, but I might be willing to make some if you supply the material blanks.....

Not overnight mind you, but I will make a few pairs...

as for adding material, you just remove the outlet port and pour your media in,

I have already tried blasting media, and it moves and floats funny, but I am trying pool sand this weekend:)

Those are also "instant" push in fittings, very quick and clean.....

there is also room on the inlet for a small round screen to be cut and placed in case of a back siphon if no check valves are used, as I am not using them.....

I helped establish an aquaculture academy in high school and we used the pool filter sand in our fluidized beds. It doesn't have a tendency to stay in the column as it constantly churns. Just make sure you rinse it very well of course. And I'm just curious, what size tank is this for?

Or an adjustable hole saw in a drill press.

I dont have any problems with the media as it would have to be shoved all the way up to the exit port, and with only about 1/4 full of media it is too heavy to be forced out, but again a screen would fit nicely at outlet port...give me a week, I am looking for the right pump as I am typing this:)

its a 180 with a 55 refugium under it......pictures in the setup area posted with my old nick of "289848752"
