Sajica are super slow growers for the size they get. Pretty sure I got mine around the same time as you at the same size and mine isn't a whole lot bigger. But ya these guys are huge pigs.

I'm growing out 8 fry in a 55 right now. I really enjoy mine. As soon as I come into the room they all swarm the top right corner waiting for food. THe largest one is just a little over an inch right now but he's already showing sajica coloration. I'm thinking I may have to separate the smallest 4 as I'm not seeing as much growth in them. Will give it a few more weeks

I have a little female for him but grows way slower as well but I think you should give yours time I'm assuming he's growing larger bc of dominance

Here is mine. About 1". I have 3 of them in my mixed 75gal. 2 of them show yellow edges to their fins and the other, the "runt", looks like yours with red highlights

My female shows yellow like that and my male is the one I posted pictures of maybe yours are females

Do you have any idea when these fish decide to start pairing up and breeding? Is there a minimum specific size or a certain amount of years they are mature enough to breed. My male is quite active but notice he chases females away a lot

I've seen them spawn at a very small size actually
Maybe your male is more worried of being dominant king of tank to worry about the females. Mine chases his female all day
I seen someone post a vid today and they had fry male looked only like 3" and already had fry

Thanks for the tip. He's definitely the dominant one. Here's a shot of him and as much of the group a i could catch. The largest one is almost 2 inches while the rest range fomr 2/3' to 1.25'
