you want movement but those HOB's could get sand in them and ruin them or make the rattle.
right now the sand stay at the bottom the filters sound 100% normal i will keep them running and i think im going o have to buy something better to test my salinity levels my coralife seems to have different readings in each side of the tank its really odd one side is normal the other side shots past the scale, will keep you posted im off to work in a bit but its a short 4 hour shift so i will come home and update the tank if anything has changed and what not.

thanks for the wishes, im trying to do everything nice and slow ive wanted to convert this 29 gallon for 2 years now and i just started last night im hoping the best results come up for me.

ok so i didnt have time for a update last night i got my new phone and was working with it :) but the water has cleared ever so much ill ive been doing is rinsing the white gunk pulled up by the filters from the live sand off the filter pads its working great for me every time i look in the tan it is more clear, now i can get a uv filter for a pretty low price and was wondering would that keep the green algae from growing in my tank or should i just get some crabs that eat that stuff?

Goodluck w/ the tank
Cant wait to start my own :D

yeah milky took a day or so to clear up when I started mine so thats ok. The HOB I would replace....they sound fine now but in a couple months or so they will sound really bad... I can't tell you how many HOB filters I have ruined in sand substrate tanks.. just from my own experience I would go with something else.

I started out with a few pounds of live rock in my tank and slowly adding more. What I did is let it sit for a month with sand, lights, heater, filter, UV sterilizer and protien skimmer (all things you will need to get) I didnt run some of the stuff for the first few days/week. Then I added in my 7-10lbs of LR let it sit for 3 weeks or so then added cleaning crew of 3 hermits and 4 nassarius snails... then 3-4 weeks later I added my first two fish. With SW the slower the better. Just keep testing the water and monitor your levles as they are going to fluctuate esp. as it cycles. All I can say is be patient and give it time to do it right.... =] If you have a question def. ask before you do it! best advice I can give.
