Headrush,
they look to be 100% the real deal. I question the size thing also but hey I never say never. These are one of my most prized cichlids as well so I would love to see mine reach 10''. But since I have never had any make it past adolecence I will be eager to see if that size can be obtained this go around.

Agreed, I have lost all 3 of my juvies over the years as well. Beautiful fish especially the females. Full of attitude for a smaller cichlid too.

Like I said I would louve to see the pics but I have to wait til I get home.

Are they wild caught? That may have a lot to do with it

Good luck with them I hope they reach 10" cvause I've never seen one even close to it. Saw a 6" male once and stood there staring for 5 minutes

it was the biggest I've ever seen and it was a beautiful fish. I can only imagine a female that size

if you're a water change freak you'll get the most outta them that you can. Hope to see them as adults. Good luck!!

now i feel like buying salvinis :irked:

Do it Onion Do it now.... LOL. I personally love this fish for the colors and heart and attitude. But there on flaw is if they don't make a friend with a bigger cichlid the usulaly dealt a bad hand. There teeth get them into trouble everytime. I have been lucky enough that my Sal teamed up with my Texas who right now is the dominant fish in my 55g. So the Sal is on top of the world. But you can tell that not one fish in the tank want's to deal with those damn teeth. They just run. This is the fist time this has happened in 15yrs of trying to get a sutiable size Sal so I am very happy with the arrangement's.

The OP good luck with that Sal and hopefully they breed. I always wanted a full Sal. colony. That would be super bad like McLovin.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Here is a picture of my breeder male. He was about 9 to 10" when I gave hime away.

The salvini in my avatar is my old seven inch (measured) male. Stupid xiloaensis killed it though. :(

These don't seem like pure Salvini's, the huge amount of blue on a predominantly yellow fish and the extra size indicates they're a hybrid to me.

Do little research before you post your comment...;)
