My salvinis dont do anything :(

I just bought a pair last week from my lfs. Male is probably around 6" or more. Female is 5-5.5". They get scared wheni go near the tank and wont do anything. Theyre in my 135 right now with some serpaes and all they do is lay on the sand. I dont have any decor still but im sure thats not it cause i tried putting them in my 40g community to see what theyre gonna do and all they did was hide all day. I really like this pair and its frustrating that they dont do anything. They were swimming fine at the lfs. They were with some pacus, aros, a big catfish, some jds. When i took em home they changed dramatically.

What should i do?

Wait it out, presuming water quality etc. is fine.

I'm more surprised that the Serpae's are surviving than I am about the Salvini being a little skittish.

Offer multiple hiding places after checking your water. Lower their stress and they will be out going.

Water is perfect actually. Ph is probably a little over 7.5

The serpaes are surviving cause the salvinis just chill and do nothing and when I go near the aquarium they act like im gonna eat them or something. I have a smaller pair in my 40g and they're out and about.

Give it time man, ben goin through the same thing with smaller vieja syns. I picked up. He would never come out and would only eat if I left the room. It has taken about two and a half months but now he rushes out to see me. May even help to leave the lights off a few days to let them settle real good to see if that helps.

Some fish need more time to acclimate. Be patient, if everything else is in good order, they'll be fine. I've had fish take 3-4 weeks before even starting to eat.

Give it more time. Ive had my green Texas for 2 weeks and they're starting too not hide as much

Or theey can be like that there whole life lol my dempseys thts all they do its also a pair tht never stops breeding seriously but besides tht they dart wen I feed them or even just move my hand and this has been going on over 2months now
