this happens with bichirs more often because most species love low/dim light so their eyes are more dialated, like how a cat's eyes get dialated for the night time and they can see really well in the night, the same goes for bichirs, so thier eyes tend to reflect alot more often than other fishes, even in sunlight viewing them from a 45 degree angle from above (my bichir tank is outside in a greenhouse) their eyes will reflect light

oh and their eyes do that for the same reasons a cats do. they have a reflective membrane behind their retinas to help collect more light so they can see better in low light conditions still cool
