My Senegal Bichir wont eat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My pleco don't purposely seek out my bichirs. Of course he will give them a little thrashing when they get too close but he does that to any of my fish. I have had 4 different plecos with my bichirs over the past 2 years(had 16 poly's at one point now only 3) and never once had a problem. Not saying that it won't never happen, just stating that I have never had this problem. I constantly see this information being stated but have failed in my time of being here on MFK to actually see any proof of this happening. If someone can point me in the direction of a thread showing some proof of a pleco sucking on a bichir I would gladly put it into consideration.
Try some diced up shrimp or tilapia. I was feeding worms for a little bit till my old ornate just didn't seem to want them anymore, but I still kept the diet varied.

Oh I believe it does happen but I feel alot of it is people simply don't feed their plecos. Don't know how many times I see threads of people saying "theres a bunch of fish poop on the bottom of my tank, so I got a pleco and he's not eating it but he's sucking on my fish".

hehe my plecos always had fresh zuci in tank! the first pleco i had in there litterally just had a bad additude, readjusted his additude by putting him in a tank full of male cichlids, pretty mild mannered now haha

plecos are considered pests here in the philippines :irked: try to give your bichir guppy that is cut in half (so that it can smell it better) if its not sick it will seek out the dead guppy..

i have a nine inch pleco myself, would try to suck on bichirs once in awhile but the bichir would shake it off, if your pleco is feeding on a normal basis, it will not seek slime off the bichirs.

as for the post, give him time, try the feed him every 3 days method, he will eventually eat !

Did you ever get your Senegal to eat? I have 3 3" Senegals that are mad about carnivore pellets but I have to break them up into small pieces for them to be able to handle them.
