my garr(12") is beating up his tankmates, my 7" cobra sh is getting the worst of it. they were all friends for a year and a half. this sucks. 250g tank. theres also 2 clown knife around 12" as well. any ideas on how to calm these guys jets? seperate them?

I didn't think gar were aggressive.

what kind of gar?

anyway i think you should seperate the channa
till it gets bigger

to about 10" then it should be fine

i think the gar is only doing that because it sees it as a possible meal!!

Lower the water temp to somewhere around 70 degrees F if you can. Colder temperatures slow them down, whereas higher temps make them eat more/be more active.

You said they were friends for a year and a half? I would imagine a cobra snakehead should be around 20" in a year and a half.

aligator garr, and the snake head is only a year old. but the garr was with the knifes for a year and a half, no beefs with them. im going to divide them for now, and ill try to lower the temp a bit. slow everything down a bit till they settle out. thanks.
