There's more than one species there

Indeed, the fish on the right looks different. The rest all look like they may be the same species, albeit very washed out in colour. An odd photo all in all, as there appears to be many reflections all over the place.

To the OP, as you know what they are, any clues?

Cool, they look like Osteochilus hasselti, I guess the ones with the stripes were the ones needing rehoming? I'm still thinking they were Osteochilus wandersii, but I guess we'll never know without updated pics. Hasselti are great, bony lipped barb, I have three in my tank.

They all ended up looking like the sharks in the updated photo. I guess the ones that had stripes were late bloomers. lol

When I rehomed them, the largest was pushing 9", and the smallest was around 4".

Strange selling name. The only red dotted shark I know of is the Labeo rubropunctatus, which those definitely aren't. That is really odd regarding the stripes fading though. Hasselti have red dots on their scales, which would fit with the strange name they were sold under, but never heard of them having stripes, so I'm still thinking there were two different species. In your first pic in the thread, the fish on the right looks like the Hasselti, the stripy ones still look like wandersii, so maybe their stripes were staying washed out.

This is a pic of one of my wandersii when they were younger

The color and fin shape def. resembled them when they were younger.

Do your sharks have a spot by the tail? Even now, the sharks have a black spot by the tail.

After a few months in my tank, the stripes dissappeared. All of them had silver bodies with bright red fins.... ( the spot by the tail fin stayed though).
