Just thought I'd post some pics of my newest addition to the collection. This is Zeeboo, she's a Short Tailed Opossum (supposed to be around 10 weeks of age). I've gotta admit that she's easily amongst the coolest of critters I've ever kept, and definitely has loads of personality!

I've had her for about a week now, and so far she seems to be doing great. Well, hope you guys like the little beastie.

Those guys are so awesome I have been throwing around the idea of getting one in my head for a while now. If you dont mind me asking ow much was she and where did you get her? Btw great pics she is sweet!!!

Hey thanks for the nice comments guys/gals!

Mystus, she's definitely pretty mellow when you really think about it. I mean, sure, she's flighty when I first get her out, but after a very short while, she calms down immensely. I usually work with her after dark (as that's when she's out and about). She's actually gotten to that point where she will greet me at her cage top until I open it and allow her to climb up my arm.

Evil, haha, I've yet to see her play dead. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure that this species does play "possum". I could be wrong, but I've yet to hear that they do :)

Logo, man, they're great little marsups! I really like her. I'd been doing alot of research on the species, and decided long ago that I was interested in one. But I'd never seen any for sale in my area. Then low and behold, last friday I went into my local reptile shop and they'd just recieved 6 babies. I went with Zeeboo because she had more of a silverish look to her coat. As opposed to the darker gray coloration her siblings had. She cost me $139.00. Well worth it in my eyes!

Neat real nice. I saw them years ago at a pet store.
They are super fast from what I heard and only 1 per enclosure and escape artists ?

Does she climb alot or mostly stay on the bottom?

Very nice. We get the big ugly wild opossum here. I see atleast one a night around my backyard. I kept a baby once that was getting beat up by my cat. It was real small about the size of a small rat. I fed it a little and let it go later.

I love possums! She's a little cutie. Definitely different from any other small mammal. Does she have a prehensile tail?

Thanks folks!

MAC - Man, I'd recommend these guys whole heartidly. If you get the chance to buy one, and are interested, I'd really say go for it!

Louie - She's actually really arboreal! Always climbing the limbs and such that are in the enclosure... The only time I see her on the ground level is during the day when she's sleeping in the hide. Other than that, she's all about being airborne.

Pyramid - Man, I'd love to have one of the large Opossum, but it isn't really all to practical at the moment. This little girl is TONS of the fun though man. That's cool that you helped the little rugrat out though man!

Death Pony - Indeed she does! That tails pretty cool to see in motion. She's wrapped it around my fingers a few times, and it's actually pretty impressive the strength that it has. I can see why they'd use it as an extra limb.

Thanks again folks!
