The majority of the info on them says they need 10 - 15 Gallon tanks. I've currently got her in a 10 Gallon during this transition time, but plan on bumping her up to something quite a bit bigger. More than likely a 29 Gallon or somewhere around there. The way that she loves to climb and such definitely begs for a larger enclosure. I was thinking about using one of the mesh reptile enclosures, but was pretty worried about drafts. The glass tanks usually stay pretty stable where the temp is concerned. So far it's never dropped below 75 degrees. Not to mention I really don't want to risk her tearing a whole in the side of the mesh systems and making a break for it.Vicious_Fish;2749523; said:Pretty cool pet. How big of an enclosure do they need?
They are pretty small. Mine is sitting right around 3" - 3 1/2" give or take. With a tail that's about 1/3 the size of her body. I've heard they usually have a body size similar to that of a medium adult rat. Usually listed right around 5" - 6" or so.Death Pony;2753671; said:How big is she? They sound like a tiny species.

I thought about using one of the cage toppers, but I really think it'd be in her best interest if I just gave her a larger enclosure all together. The 29 gallon would give her plenty of height and quite a bit more length then what she's currently hooked up with at the moment as well.Louie;2756601; said:The pet store I saw them at had them in tall finch narrow spaced bar cages.
They seem to be able to be kept in anything http://www.knowyoursto.com/articles/care-groupcages.html
that they cant escape from. Have you considred simply adding one of those cage toppers ?
Does yours use a wheel or they dont use them at all?
is it just active at night?
I went to few pet stores yesterday looking at tanks and saw baby males for sale .

I decided to go the more "naturalistic" set up if you will when it comes to forms of her exercise. I went more with the branches and such as opposed to the wheel. Though I don't doubt that she'd use one.
I'd snag one of the males if you're really interested if I were you. I actually thought about getting a cage mate for my female, but everything points to them being pretty territorial with one another. Sometimes leading to fights that end up with one of the Opossums being dead.
So I've decided to stick with Zeeboo and go from there.
