my silver aro's growth rate-future silver owners look

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The best Progression thread I've ever seen on a Aro.

Do u think it was the changes in the tank sizes or the diet that
affected his growth the most?

What is his diet anyway?

That's a cool timeline you've put together. I'm currently working on something similar, a video timeline of my silver's growth. Every month I'm taking a new vid from the same location in the room so I can edit it together with fades to show the growth rate. I think I'm going to do it about three more months before I finally edit it together.
that will be neat :)

diet made him grow
he out grew every tank,fast
so i sure dont believe the,can only grow so big in a tank,saying lol
and now i have an 8 ft tank and im wondering the next move already
:nilly:

diet

minnows=guppies or mosquito fish
feeders=live tilapia,jewel cichlids,mayans,crawdads,all my nettings

started as minnows when a baby
then i got him on raw market shrimp with a few feeders as treats when he was mid sized
then after a while he refused to eat shrimp and only eat feeders
he still only eats feeders,lots,some pretty big now
:D

those netting trips haven't been in vain midnight
and such a beautiful aro you have got
he sure is a treasure and it would be sad the day when you leave him in the pond and have very slight chance to see him again as you see him now, i feel so every time i go near the pond and try to see how my RTCs and my TSNs are doing

Noticed your post is 1yr 2mo ago. Did you get that video together? If so, did you post it somewhere? If so, WHERE?! :)

I just picked up 2 10" silvers less than a month ago, and it has already gained nearly 2" to 12" each. I've already moved them to the 55g but fear it will not be enough, after perusing this thread.

Anyone know where I can see pictures of the Silvers in their natural habitat? I'd like to recreate their biotope in their final home tank. I need to know what's the typical depth, substrate, plants, and tankmates that would be safe in the tank with these monsters! I already know that plecos are always good especially the big ones (rats, I shouldve kept my 12" pleco).

You've got two 12" silvers in a 55g tank?:eek:

They do grow fast. Mine went from 5" in to 14" in 7 months in a 100g. and from there to 27" in the next 14 months in a 240g. Mostly on Hikari cichlid gold floating pellets and feeders once a month or so.

Gorgeous aro!!! It's amazing how fast he grew.
