Has anyone heard of such a thing??? I had two arowanas 8" and 10". Everything is well, and I'm sure they were silver when I bought them. Then I bought a third arowana, and it wasn't untill then that I realized how dark the other two had become. My first thought was that it was the "arowana pellets" I was feeding them that is supposed to enhance there color. Because I was so preoccupied with how colorfull they were becoming I didn't notice how NOT silver they were also becoming. This is just one of my theories. I have stopped feeding the pellets about 2 weeks ago or less, but they still seem so dark. I do regular water changes and all the fish are hungry, healthy and aggresive. No flicking of the fins, just normal arowana behavior. I can't see any negitive signs from them. Any ideas??? THanks, Brian (OSPY)

it sounds more like they are upset with the new guest :irked:

It could be del, I actually have thought that the personality chemistry is causing the darkening. Though the picture of the silver above was actually "silver" and shiney. My fish have become rather flat in color and a brown green. I'm going to figure this out. It may take a while. Brian (ospy)

i can try tomarrow dunno how to do it though

yeah kinda like that, but there is only one prob with the tanning theroy, my lights are not on all day, they are on just at night when i am home, then they are off again when i go to bed

then why does it just tan the top part of the fishes back and not the sides of the fish, the sides of the fishes are exposed to the light as well, and yet they stay silver.

Because most of the time, aquarium lights are directly above the fish and so it gets the maximum exposure?

This tank light theory is suspicious. I've never seen this before with my arowanas in the past. They had tank light exposure. But I have turned the light off today just for an experement

Have you been leaving your lights on for them in the tank for too loong everyday?

I don't know what you have tried in the past but the light has a huge effect on my goldfish and my marine tanks. The light would be something to try I would think.
