My roomate fed him once and he jumped out of the tank and held onto my roomates hand. After we got the Arowana back into the tank we relized my roomate's hand was bleeding. Its not because the arowana has teeth (the teeth feel like sand paper) its because everytime the arowana grabs the food from our hands it tries to down its food with its tongue. Its tongue is like a long boney spear (hence their species name of bony tongues) , it spears the food with it then rams it down its throat. My roomate had a five and a half inch gash in his palm........he had to get stitches. Thats why you see so much motion going on in an arowana's mouth when it is eating. The morral of this story.......Arowanas are awesome!!!
My roomate has a nasty scar now and still feeds the arowana goldfish and craw fish from his hand.........the craw fish help turn him pink.
The craziest thing in the world is to see a two foot arowana with your roomates hand down its throat
The doctor said that the only thing stopping the arowana's tongue from going through my roomates hand was my roomates bone in his hand.........thats how deep the cut was!!!
