Can you tell me if my aro is a male or female Bderick67

Already answer that question, now high lighted in red

If your are refering to the bump on the tail it is probably scar tissue from an old injury.

Sexing silver aros is said to be near impossible and not 100%. I do have my own opinions on this, but one of the differences is with the jaw. Your silver has a deformed lower jaw, known as protruding lower jaw (PLJ) also other traits seem to be more appearant around 24".

If you keep your water clean and the water params perfect, medicating for small injuries and lost scales is not needed.

The red and blue on the silver are normal.

read the following thread and make your own guess as to sex, a full body shot would be helpful also. The thing is you silver is just to the point that it will start bulking up and then the traits that I talk about become more apearant.Sexing the Silver Arowana

I have heard that high nitrates will make adult silver aros red coloring more intense, but htis is not a good thing.

Try as I might I could not get the pic right. LOL

I tried hard but the aro never gave a full body shot or moved aways as I clicked the button.

The top two pics combined will give a full body shot, or a sense of a full body of the aro.

First last is not so good but a full body shot.

Here is the full body shot you asked for Bderick67

Try taking a picture were the camera is at an angle to the glass, this will keep the glare from the flash out of the picture. You aro is still too small for me to give an opinion as to it's sex.

Did you read the thread I gave you a link to? You are seeing it in person, what do you think it is?

I read it. The lower fin (anal fin) is longer. The lower pointy fins are longer too. the jaw is much longer (lower jaw). The body where the eggs should be is not so taller then the head. the head is 6 cm high and the body is 7.5 cm high. I measured it during water change. Head width from the top is not so much, the head is 3.5cm and body is 4.2 or 4.5 cm

Click on the images man, all of them are much bigger pics. May be you'll get more of an idea.

Tell me that the gill cover of my aro, is it like your male aro or female aro.

All the other things says its a male aro but gill cover is not so developed to say its a male.

Tell me the angle man, is is more like a female or less like a male? and what about the circumference? what does that means what do you say about that Bderick67

The other aro who was sharing the tank with my aro was 24 inches long and had a gill cover like your female. I didnot looked at it much because I only saw its head and jaw which was level and not long, so I thought it was a female. They were living peacefully with eachother. I thinkg the other one was the female.

Not sure what you are refering too when talking about the "Gill cover". With the deformed jaw, lack of bulk and with the substandard pictures, the only thing I can say is your aro looks 55% like my possible male.

Do you have any plans for a larger tank?

Yeah in the making. Going to take some time. I am getting a 48inch x 18inch x 15inch for now. If he grows to 24 inch I will get 60inch x 30inch x 18inch. I already have too many aquariums to I cant go for the bigger option now.

The gill cover man, the horizontal line from the eye to the edge of the first vertical line. The facial thing on your aro is very different.

Your female has some filling on its gills, while male has very vissible lines.
