My small pleco collection.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ridiculous is pretty expensive. I spend like 250 on my L095 which most people would think is ridiculous, but I found it reasonable. hahah

Breeding of most rarer plecos, especially the larger ones, is difficult at best. I have not personally seen anyone who breeds L024. I have seen a guy who has done 600s. L273 are great looking and pretty much have the same care as the 24/25/600s. They are not cheap though :D

There is also the typhoon pleco if you like the cactus type :D $$$$$$$

I think I would rather havebabscarlet, the l600 it also pretty sweet looking and I can't find a l273. $250 would probably be around the max. I've been trying to convince my wife that a $500 kk flowerhorn is a good idea.... Still hasn't happened...

I like it. Are plecos prone to any parasites or disease? Any recommendations for long and healthy lives?

I don't believe I have ever had one get sick or pass. Just figured I was ask, with as many years vested in the hobby I'm sure something has popped up.

Many fancy plecos are very sensitive to any ammonia and nitrites. Keep really clean water.

I find it best to have powerheads with then too so you dont get any dead spots. The sun sun JVP-110 are super cheap and work well. you can strategically place a couple in a tank.

Also be careful of feeding veggies that could possibly be contaminated with chemicals.

Water circulation should not be a problem in my 75g tank. I have a 29g sump with a mag drive 7, an aquaclear 110, a marineland power head and 2 air stones. Currently I just have the l191, I think he will be happy and just fine.

I picked up a second L-095 about a month ago. I was quarantining him with my L14 for a while. I finally added him to the display tank. There are very clear differences between the two L095 so I believe I actually have a male and female. As breeding has never been accomplished, I dont have much in the way of breeding hopes. Who knows what might happen when they get into a 1000g tank though.
