my small setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if you are out of budget a 30 gallon would be fine for a year...welcome to MFK! fishkeeping is addictive! so its always better to have an extra budget:grinno:

The bigger the is always the better...:D

I agree with 75 gallon and up. In most cases a bgk will reach 15 inches.. sometimes larger.

You could have a happy and intelligent fish for life in a tank that size.

But I like to think bigger is better. So of course more tank space is generous in this situation.

bummer like said BGK get to around 18''-20'' after MANY years they need a 75 gallon for life 55 gallons are only 12'' wide an adult BGK would have a very hard time turning around if it could at all the 18'' width is pretty important

You could always do a planted community tank. And if you're lucky, everyone will notice how nice it is and let you set up a HUGE one for the school or something. It's a long shot, but it's always worth a try!

that sucks i have mine in a 55 and hes doing well ( i plan on doing a serious upgrade;))

if you are able to get a 55 gallon eventually walmart sells them for like 195$ with light+stand. which from my exp is around the same price for a 10gallon. In Canada though lol. Good luck:)

you know those tags at petsmart that tell you about the fish. it says a bgk needs a 30 gal:WTF:

I'd say sneak in a 20g and get an African Brown Knife. They average 8"
