my snapper need some help i think

I have a common snapper and once in awhile he will have algae on his shell..i take him and rinse him off.. also what are you feeding him..i know mine needs vegetables in his diet as well as protein.. so maybe he needs some veggies too.. mine loves carrots and squash and algae wafers..

I'd definitely bump up the heat. At a year old I'd think he'd be bigger, mine have always been pretty fast growers.

Pretty much all species of turtles shed their scutes as well.

Other turtles pop their scutes. Snappers shells peel away with no particular pattern.

Haha but i know it is important to their diet too..in the wild they eat greens ..
