Its the thing some are ,some are notCTU2fan;2596378; said:The snappers I've kept haven't tended to be aggressive really, more food aggressive as in they don't want to bite/kill me, but they'd love to eat meI agree with coura though, handling is likely pretty stressful for them espcially since they're almost 100% aquatic. I find more terrestrial types like torts and box turtles to be pretty tolerant of handling; the aquatics not so much.

Dan Feller;2599281; said:You're right, it is low. I was in the middle of cleaning the tank (notice the black hose) when I took this picture.
Snappy doesn't swim much, like Coura said, they tend to walk on the bottom. When he gets excited he rears up on his hind legs (underwater) and runs! It's pretty cool, he kind of gallops from one end of the tank to the other.
I attached a photo of the normal water level.
As far as tame Snappers, Snappy is not aggressive but he certainly isn't "tame". If you waved your fingertips in the tank you could very easily be mistaken for food. However, as soon as I stick my whole hand in the tank he heads the other direction. When I handle him (only as necessary) he will snap at the air and try to free himself, but he doesn't actually try to bite me.
