My softshell escaped!

Still no sign of her. We even moved the pond to make sure she didn't hide under it somehow. I'm completely stumped as to where she could have gone, unless she's just buried herself really well.

I've heard people losing their turtles for months then finding them. They dont stray away from their pond to often it looks like. I suggest looking in humid places she can hide in. Unless shes small then maybe she got eaten. Put some food out while your gone. Something she;d enjoy and see if any of it is eaten by the time you get back. You can tell the difference between turtle bites and other animals.

She's got a 12" long carapace, so the only thing that would be eating her would be a good size dog, and even then she's got a big mouth with a sharp beak. maybe she'll turn up, maybe she won't. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open for a while and hope for the best.
 
Turn on a sprinkler and create your own heavy rain... Even if it doesn't bring her out it may keep her alive a few extra days until you can find her...

Adding water to the new pond may also invite her down in there...
 
Also dont forget they are acomplished climbers, they trespass a mesh fence easily
 
The entire yard has a 6 foot privacy fence, with the bottom jammed down tight against (or partially buried in some places) the ground. I'd soak the yard good, since it hasn't rained (it did sprinkle, but didn't get the ground very wet), except that I'm currently building a deck and that would really make things nasty dirty in the back yard. I'm just going to wait and see. I still have a few piles of wood and patio pavers sitting in the backyard, so when I move those I'll see if that's where she's hiding.

Digg a hole. Fill it with water. After a few days check it.
