Really! So one of my so called Florida gar is a true spotted gar after all. Look very similar on the snout. Now I know what to look. Hehehe.... I've been thinking that the snout is a lil' longer than my other Florida and not as wide.

not keeping Texas cichlids anymore?
Long time no talk senor. I still have my Tx. As a matter of fact, my spotted gar is the only thing he hasn't killed. He still beats the snot out of it too but those Gar are tough critters! :irked:

He's in a 110G I hadn't planned on any gar since I think the 110 is kinda small but last year here in the TX hill country we began a severe drought. I found him last summer in a drying pool on the Nueces river. The pool has long since dried up as has most other parts of the Nueces. All area rivers are drying up (Frio, Sabinal, Nueces, etc.) The fish population is taking a beating but I saved one spotted gar. I may go out this weekend and pick up a few other small spps. out of some drying pools. There is one by my house that has hundreds of Mexican Tetras, Darters, ect. in it. It will be dry in a week or two. :rip

post a pic and we can ID it for you...it's not always that simple, and if you got it from an LFS, it's likely a FL gar--
