It looks like he has some bogwood in the tank, if its bogwood then that is most likely what is staining the water that sort of tea-colour, the tannins bogwood releases into water can actually be beneficial for certain types of catfish as tannins can have an anti-bacterial effect on the water etc or something like that :) .
Yea, your probably right... I would have soaked it out in totes first though... A little tea isn't bad but thats darker then the tea I drink ;)

Its not only the wood. It has to do with bad filtration also. And the brownish gravel Just got a new filter up and running and its getting clearer every day. New pictures will come when its clearer.

Driftwood turned my water orange for about 3 months. Doing my weekly water changes cleared it up in that time frame!

There is only one living species of rtc, and there are 3 that are extinct that I know of. His is a normal one, just has the curvature of the skull that we keep seeing in a lot of the tsn. Should be fine. I've seen this in several rtcs now, along with tons of tsn, and a few of the hybrids.

My rtc hasnt eaten yet. I have had for about 5 days now. The other rtc i have had, have bean gready eaters. But this one hanst eaten a thing. But i was in 8 houer drive. before i entered my tank
