You can recover from garbage number so long as you are willing to find the source of what caused it. Kmowing the remedy is nothing without knowing the cause.

Depending on what you use, substrate and decor can maintain a lower or higher PH, almond leaves for example will lower it and crushed coral will raise it.

I think they were looking for more specific information, not terms like “sky high “.
Sky high it is what it is an ye pH is normally is around 7.2 8 max never goes over that
I think you’re probably good then, I wouldn’t mess with the PH. Just do massive water changes and test ammonia, nitrite and nitrate frequently until you get those under control and don’t over clean the filters until Ammonia and nitrite are zero again.
I will do big change IV just put sum easy balance in there just to see if it helps bring it down if it don't then it's all out
