How do i prevent my tank from smelling???
I do water changes every 3 days. Filters are clean. I feed the fish 2 times a day.
I need help fast!

feed once a day. get an air freshener just don't put it in the tank. look for dead fish. look for other dead things.

I would only feed once a day, or cut back on the amount and stay with 2 times daily. If it's smelling bad, look around the tank for BGA. If you are getting any BGA, it really stinks. It's kind of a bluish green, and can also be in a couple other varied colors, and is slimy. If that's the case, then you have poor circulation in those areas of the tank. And it will cause it to stink.

Also, besides dead fish, if you have any snails, possibly dead snails.

Decay causes bad smell. Rotting plants, fish, and food all cause this.

Is it established? Did you kill off all of your bacteria when cleaning your filter?

agree with all the advice.

only feed once per day.

do a water change and add fresh carbon to your filter.

it will help to take out the odours too.

I agree as well, carbon in the filter will also help eliminate some of the odor as well.

bacteria is fine in the tank. I think it is alge. I will cut down the feeding. nothing dead in the tank. filter is brand new. had it for a week now

Carbon or even better, Purigen.

Your feeding schedule isn't a bad thing, but make sure there is minimal uneaten food in the tank.

If the filter is new, then it may not be fully cycled. As long as the tank has been established a while, the filter should catch up fairly quickly. Just watch for any ammonia spikes, unless you are still running the old filter as well. Then you don't need to watch for anything.
