The extra 2" wont make much of a difference, but I would still make it as wide as possibe. Another oscar would be fine though.

you should definetly put some natives in there though...maybe some lm or sm bass??...or trout too if you wanna spend the extra money to get a cooling system pending the water temp

I dont think trout are going to work, hes got cichlids in it lol. But if you do want some natives, sunfish dont get too big and they will be fine in the tropical temps.
