for a 6yr old that is totally understandable. but when you have things like the oscar, pike, piranha (aka big boy fish) you should probly step up to some big boy substrate lol. some simple play sand is cheap as hell lol

Lol girl friend and daughter play big part in the look of the tank. I hate the gravel but have a family to please. Yea know the pirranha can't stay for long had to move in temporary thing.

first thing I thought was my daughter would love that.. lol glad she hasn't seen the fruity pebble substrate at the lfs yet... I'm sure when she does it'll be that or purple.. long as its not adversely effecting the fish.. if it makes your kid/family happy go for it! And that Pike is a stunner!

Not a bad tank, I wish my parents would of let me have pets when I was little. Who cares what everyone else thinks, just taking in all the bs from this cite will just push you away from it. No ones better then the next guy.

That's an interesting tank. It could make a nice amazon biotope. You have all the species for one. Unlike others I don't think it will end in disaster as long as the other fish don't present themselves as dying or sickly.
