Do you plan to upgrade from the 55 cause its really not adequate for oscars. Only a foot wide and oscars can easily hit 13 within 2 years

I honestly think an Oscar is fine in a 55 for life, I understand they can grow up to 16" in extraordinary circumstances but that's never been my experience. I've had about 5 fully grown Oscars in a 55 before(not at the same time) and never had unhappy fish or anything. But I would love to give my Oscar a 125 gallon but my 55 is adequate for an Oscar.

For a time a Oscar is fine in a 55 but by no means is a 55 ok for life.an Oscar that lives in a 55 it's entire will be stunted.they need a tank with a minimum 18 width.anything less for life is cruel IMO

I'm going to heavily disagree with this statement as well. Oscars are large, messy, thick, and powerful fish. Even with weekly 50-75% WC's, an adult Oscar (12+ inches) is going to be too much for a narrow tank of that size. A standard 55G is roughly 12" wide, and most adult Oscars can and will easily reach 12+ inches within 18 months. IMO, any fish that grows 10+ inches needs a minimum of 75G (18" deep) tank. Using the example of 16" is completely unnecessary when 12"-13" (which they commonly get) is way too big for that size tank.

Hello there I don't know what gallons my tank is but it's 4 foot x 16 inches wide x 18 inches deep? And will this be cool for my Oscar for life? I also have a fluval 205 and a tetra ex 700.
