Just make sure the sand doesn't contain silicates or the ray will get massive injurys and possibly kill the ray.

P. Reticulata tend to be very finicky eaters, especially when they are juveniles. They tend to only eat small live foods, such as ghost shrimp, and blackworms for there first couple months in captivity. But when they acclimate, they can be weaned onto other small prepared foods.
