Here's a couple shots of my 11 year old Texas Cichlid, she's around 8-9 inches. She's in a 50g on her own. Sorry for the quality!

I was actually certain she was a male for years, but then she didn't cross that 10" thresh-hold and no hump on her head, anyways, enjoy!

Nice! I remember catching a few of these guys last summer.. If you had her for 11 years and she's never laid eggs then I'm pretty sure its a male. Not all male Texas cichlids get a hump. 50 Gallons IMO is too small for a Texas cichlid, which would explain why it didn't get bigger than 10". Still a very nice looking fish though. :)

Some females only lay eggs when there is a mate, if it's been the lone fish in the tank then it may never show breeding behavior. I have a female Salvini that has never laid eggs and I know she's female.

She has been alone in the 50g (except for a pleco she killed a long time ago) since she was small. I was unaware that a 50g would be too small for a single Texas Cichlid, sorry to anyone offended by this!

Now I actually kind of feel bad that I could have stunted her growth.
