My Texas Diamondback Terrapin!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He was being kept in a 20 from the prev owner... so I think that he's got a better life noting that they had him for 3 years in that tank!

AS far as diameter- From left to right he's 4"- from head start of shell to tail end of shell he's about 6"-

Him being in this tank for 2 months is not going to hurt him what so ever. So it's adequate enough.

If it's such an issue, I'll put him in the koi tank so that he can swim around for a few hours. Unless 1500 gallons isn't enough?

It's awesome that you are upgrading this guys quality of life. The 40 is certainly better than the 20, yet is still inadequate. It will surely do as a short term tank, I was simply encouraging you complete the larger enclosure sooner rather than later.

If it's a male then it's nearly full grown, females will get a bit larger.

Again, it's surely an upgrade from the 20 and it's great you upgraded somewhat immediately. But it is still true to note, this temporary tank is of inadequate size.

If it is practical to remove the DBT from the Koi Pond then you might as well use it as the temporary home. Heck maybe even full time if that's practical to th eKoi Pond...

No, it's not practical to keep him in it, and he's can't be in it yet even to swim..the water is still in the 60s yet.

He can not stay in there permanently... I don't want my turtle giving my koi health issues from possible parasites etc, and visa versa.
