MY THiNBAR JUST DiED... damn it.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
are you guys serious?
:nilly: :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:
i've heard of ppl packing $h!tloads more fish ina 40G.

my homie had a nile perch.
5 bichirs.
5 clown loaches.
a snake head. dwarf.
2 bagarius.
another catfish.
a needle nose gar.
thinbar dat.

all in a 40 gallon. :naughty:

i mean, i had way more fish in my tank before...
i actually started down sizing~:screwy:

and by "bio load" can u guys sorta explain that term.
i am not to familiar with it.

im over filtrating 100 gallons with my canister filter.
and i have alot of anubias in there.
2 pieces of driftwood.
also some java moss.

AND...
i have never considered to house these fishes ina 40 for ETERNITY~
knowing that they all grow larger...
BUT~ i live in an apartment right now.
also, im pretty broke.

so around 2-4 months from now, im planing to buy a 250 gallon custom made acrylic tank.
with 2 overflows and a built in wet/dry.
also ima slap my FX5 on it.

so ima have a 250 gallon tank. with 400 gallons OVERFILTRATION.

so for now, im just enjoying my fish in this 40.
its temporary guys. im not cruel~ just broke.

I recommend you buy a test kit asap...have you done a water change since?? Its not too late to check it.

Also bump up your water changing frequency. Like others said...that is a large bio load.

I would be changing water at least once a week.

Sounds to me like the rosies did it. Or something has gone wrong with the water quality.

can you guys explain "bio load"

and if anything im thinking of putting some ammo-zorb in the canister filter.

after doing another water change. atleast 25%

help guys?

i think it was just the rosie, but now my pulchers are getting all dark too.

damn.

-let me know-

Probably just thwe bio-load is way too much for that tank. The bio load is, in very simple terms, how many fish the tank can sustain without turning toxic. Ill let someone else explain it in depth.

And I am REALLY surprised the flowerhorns arent killing each other... they need a 75 to themselves each, absolute minimum. Put the fish from the acrylic in the 250, then you need to worry about the FH's. 40 is definately not big enough for even one, and just because other people do it it doesnt mean its right.

well im getting rid of another fish today.

my lungfish.

also, im probably only gonna house the smaller one for a little while.
and probably give it to my aunt.

but my flowerhorn [bigger one in my avatar] was fine in the 40~
and usually stays on one side of that tank anyways.

maybe if i moved it would be a better idea to get a bigger tank.
but that 40 is cool.

and i will most definitely put all my fishes that are in my 40 gallon into the 250 |WHEN i get it| theyre generally all pretty small and getting along in there for now.

im pretty young~ and i dont have a stable income.
but, in about 2-3 months i should have everything settled and have a nice huge tank for these guys around than.

thank you for you input.
i appreciate the info, but the negativity was not necessary.

just cleaned the canister filter.

put a bag of chemi-pure.

and cleaned the tank a bit.

did a big water change yesterday so i didnt do another one~

From my experience thinbars are a little more sensitive than the other dats. Ive even lost some doing a waterchange, where the others were fine. Ive spoken to the dat godfathers about this and they assured me that they have had the same experiences, they can just up and die at any point it seems. I know it sucks but don,t take it too hard because it does happen with these guys.

its alot better. thanks for your 2 cents vanimate.

Much appreciated.:D
