Your tank should be fine just silicone it back on.
As for the "lids"..
What lights you running and what are these "LIDS" you speak of..
I run mine open top ..

I got T5's.

And it's just your standard glass lid that comes with every tank... I still have a canopy but these help keep in evaporated water.

But they also drastically reduce "PAR" from your lights.
You should loose the glass top and roll top less.
Yes you'll evap a bit more but your lights will work better.

I did notice the tank look dramatically brighter, and the blue tang was more vivid. I'll try it out.
