That's a new brain but he's doing good. That other brain was a goner. No more flesh at all. Maybe could have saved him if I was a month earlier but live and learn.

Any reason those acraporas aren't blue like they should have been?

Sorry to hear about the brain, but good to hear the rest are recovering. It's possible that the acros aren't blue because they haven't recovered (assuming they where doing poorly), or its possible they are only blue under high blues/uv light, its a problem I have been noticing when looking at frags, they tend to show them at 20k to brighten their colours but personaly I don't believe the 20k lights are good for long term coral care (to much UV).

If you look back in this thread you'll see I only recently switched to 14k MH I ran 20K's for over a year with Killer results..
they don't grow as fast but the color of the corals are amazing.

WET THUMB FRAGS uses 10K to make the coral encrust on there plugs then puts them under 20K to color them up for sale..
They will grow under 20K's just fine.. Just slower.

For my Lights I have:

1 10000k
2 75.25 14000k
3 54w blue antinics.

Hmmm interesting, thank's for clearing that up, my researches evidence was anicdotal at best. That said I will still run 10k MH as my standard, but maybe throw 2 20ks in the line of 6 MH So I can keep growth high but allow them to look pretty haha. Though I also plan to aquaculture them for sale purposes so I need high growth rates. I'm also looking into sexual reproduction of corals aka breeding them not fraging them, its interesting, but tricky and rarely happens in aquaria... But hey first for everything eh?

looks to me like it wants WAY more light. browned out /tanned out corals usually are from lack of light..

Maybe it's because they were in a truck for 2 days? Hopefully they will color up in a few days.

I could imagine a broadcast spawn in a large reef tank would be messy. Sperm and egg goo stuck on everything.

LOL yes it would happen, but see that also results in sperm and eggs bonding and creating baby acros and acans etc and if multiple acros spawn then I could get colour coroses resulting in new interesting corals.

Maybe put an egg carton like you use in the sumps to devide the mechanical and biological filtration and wrap a mesh around it... set it in the side of the tank and put powerheads on the opposite side. So when the corals do feel some sexual healin' they spawn and it get's blown into the mesh and hopefully sticks. Take it out and put it in a reef grow out tank.
