My Trimac is a WIMP!!!

Where the Parachromis roam...
My Tri is 3" he is housed with a 2"convict,a 3"Port Cichlid and a 2" Port Cichlid,the Tri is at the bottom of the pecking order(all fish were placed in the tank at the same time).Even the 2"Port picks on him,its unbelievable i have often heard how rough and tough these cichlids are and mine turns out to be a WIMP!!!!:WHOA:
 
As long as it doesn't get badly hurt, give it time and the trimac will toughen up. I also would not count on a trimac living with all of those tankmates for too long. Plans to move him when he grows a little?

I had a trimac that was like that all he did was hide from all the other fish for months, then one day I woke up and he had killed every fish in the tank.
 
Hes 3" man. You think Mike Tyson came out swinging from the womb? What do you want him to do? kill your other fish?...if so, youre in this hobby for the wrong reason.

Enjoy him being able to be in a tank with other fish while you can because at some point it will probably end.
 
Most of the really aggressive cichlids that I have kept started out the same way, shy and reclusive. But it all changed when they gained a little age and weight. Enjoy it while you can. Be prepared to make a few tank arrangements once your Trimac begins to behave the way that you want him to.

No i dont want him to kill all the other fish,but being bullied by a 2" Port,come on. :cry:

he's only 3", he still a little baby if you consider the fact that they can reach up to 16", where as the port is about 1/3 of the way full grown. Give him time, and soon he will be the picking/killing your fish.
 
Trimacs are VERY aggressive. Once he starts to get bigger watch out.
 
Most of the more aggressive Cichlids just bide their time - they are picked on and remain patient and months of torment follows - then once they are powerful enough, big enough and confident enough they will wipe out the tank.
