male - 6.5 inches

female - 3.5 inches (lost her colors due to moving her to prevent breeding)

Unless male Trimac can get a black blotch in the dorsal, the first one you labeled as a male is a female....and a beauty btw. I think you have two females so they probably won't breed.

I'm not a big fan on confirming sex via a black blotch or not, but in this case the father of that fish is above and doesn't have any.

I agree very nice trimacs but i say the same with the larger one being female, its always been a sure shot for me when sexing by using the black notch theory.

Thanks for id (ing) the sex of the first fish. It act like a male. I had the 2 together and I can see the 'tube' of smaller trimac extending, cleaning the pot, black bars so I guess the bigger one was a male.

I hope you don't mind me asking... total curiosity only. How come get a trimac pair, only to separate them, so they don't breed? Fighting or something?

Not trying to answer for him but there are many reasons. Aside from fighting breeding also stunts growth so maybe he's trying to get some size on them first.
