So far I only see symptoms in one..... My smallest female. Isolated her from the rest a week ago as she was not growing and became anti social. Captive bred. Appetite dwindled and ceased yesterday. All other rays seem just fine including the other female that is in isolation with her. Wondering if it's purely stress related?? Conditions seeemed to worsen after adding the non stop swimming lil Dorado shoal. Tank is barebottom and I saw her occasionally trying to bury herself.

2lbs per gallon added this morning. Will do other 2 in the morning. Binox dosed after a big waterchange/vac, and changing of all mechanical media. Temps up arround 88. Should be 90 by the morning. WCs are done almost everyday. Skipped at the very most twicee a week. All 3 grades of mechanical media are swapped with clean every 4-6 days. Using API dechlorinator.

My question is have you guys been following the directions for Binox? It says after 4 days add another dose after a 25% WC. Does this mean NO waterchanges at all for 4 days? Do I hold off on feeeding for a few days?

I'm open to any advice anyone has to offer... Anything I'm overlooking here? Really feeling kinda helpless here......

And before it's even mentioned I will be med shopping in the AM..... ;)

Nice catch Spizz. Definetly a typo. 2lbs/100 gallons (Will add another 2/100 in AM)

As far as your original question, do not change the water. Follow the box. Wait 4 days, then do the change. It would cost a small fortune to re-add meds everyday. That is why hospital tanks should be small...To keep the amount of meds needed low.

Binox is cheap. It costs $7.50 to treat my pond twice..... But I understand what you're saying. I don't even know if what I'm seeing is an actual bacterial infection or if it's strickly stress related. I won't be adding anymore new rays to the pond for a while so I figured it would be wise to play it safe and treat everything.

I just went to 90 as I remember Mike suggesting that. There's plenty of O2 in there so I just went with it......

I just came off salt and heat that was ran for a few weeks upon introducing allready QTd wild caughts. I can't tell if it's coincidence that these symptoms appeared after turning the temp back down, and halting the salt with waterchanges or a direct result.

im more curious if this is that bacteria how and why so many people are getting this all at once... good luck

What are the symptoms???

Loss of appetite and shy???

If this is all DO NOT TREAT YOUR SYSTEM WITH BINOX.

Rays do this from time to time. I think your other thought was correct, the ray is stressed. Sure Dorado's could be the cause, or just dominance among the rays. I had a 14" Flower Female dominate a 12" Castexi Male so bad that he would not eat. He was a robust a strong eater for the year prior, then one day, the Flower just started to stress him and take control of the tank. I waited 2 weeks for improvement and then separated him.

Oh no! Hope she turns around.
