Do a single dose of bixon wait 24 hrs and do another full does. So your double dosing the tank over 24 hrs. Everytime you do a water change say 30% add in enough to cover the 30% only for single dose. I would water change every 2-3 days and replace the meds with each WC.

How long would you keep Binox in the system? If until the symptoms are gone, how long after they are gone?

On the bottles I use it says to leave the medication in tank for two weeks, After two weeks water change 50% and dose again. I just double dose within 24 hrs and replace with water changes. As for treating without knowing what the problem is you have disk rot a sure sign of a bacterial or fungus problem you should be treating for sure.

So I'm definetly confused with the binox thing then. My bottle says to do a 25% water change then dose. A second dose may be added in four days after a 25% waterchange. I'm assuming may be added means if things are still bad, but it doesn't say anywhere it has to be in the system for so long. I did find things better when I dosed every second day instead of 4.

Sorry to hear this DB, why does it seem like it is affecting marble motoros or marble hybrids more than the other rays? Is it because people have more of these types of rays on this board or a disease common to this type of ray? I know of atleast 5 or more cases just in the past month or so that affected MM's and MM hybrids including my two.

It does seem odd doesn't it? It's ironic that you tell me about yours then within what, like 2 days, BAM I have it.

Maybe they are part of some kinda cult and the day they have all been planning for is drawing nearer, so they've all drank thier Kool aid????

In all seriousness I have found them to be really prone to being easily stressed out.

I have no doubt that my case was brought on by stress.

i was just sayin all the waterchanges could be adding to her stress level now.

i didnt know she was still hooked to a big system either, where the waterchanges r very necessary...

It's all good. I really do appreciate your input.

UPDATE....... She's still alive, although she appears to have gotten worse. Forehead is caving. Skin's peeling. All other rays are as active as ever. The WC female on the other side of the divider still appears unaffected.

Any recomendations on feeding? Light feedings every other day?

Update... Got some ghost shrimp. No dice. Forehead divit's huge. Ray's starting to curl. All others eating and acting fine. No symptoms in any others. Followed Mikes recomendations and dosed with Binox again last night after a big waterchange and binox added to compensate the wc. Added the rest of the salt.

I think its out of my hands now. I don't know what else I could do. I guess I do know... Quit buying rays. Its obvious I can't care for any more than what I have now.

Sorry to here about this. I wish I could give you some help on this one but I still haven't had any progess on mine and now I only have 1 of my four xingus eating. My flower in the tank is getting better and starting to get back it's color and appetite. Best of luck to you.

Ray's dead.

Maybe something can be learned from this.

This is the second time this has happened to me. A ray quits eating and dies all within a few days. Just hazes over. Cloudy eyes, excess slime, slime starts peeling, disk starts rotting. Within 36 hours curls and dies. All while NO other rays even appear slightly infected with anything..... I even had another small female in the SAME tank right next to her till I put up the divider up. She shows NO signs of anything. In fact after pulling the divider the other female eagerly swam over to the other side of the tank and devoured the ghost shrimp.

Really just at a loss for words right now.
