The yolk doesn't seem to start getting smaller until the last couple weeks.

About 4-6 months from the time its laid to the day the shark is born.

They aren't too difficult. From my experience, they're pretty hardy.
They don't eat for the first week or so, because they're still living off the nutrients from their yolk. And after that, if you slowly offer frozen foods, they should just go for it.

I started mine off on live ghost shrimp, and once he ate all of those, I started feeding shrimp, squid, fish, clams, etc.
It's unbelievable how much food mine eats.
