Here is a brief description of the creation of my new ray room. It all started in early December. I tore out a garage door in my 3 car garage and put in an exterior door. put up a wall to make the ray room. purchased the tanks and made the stands and the sump myself. The stands are made of 4x6's and 2x6's 12" on center. They are covered with 3/4 plywood. The sump is a 140 gallon tank that I chopped the top off of and made a huge wet/dry out of it. I put in the baffle, the top and made the drip plate. Pump is an ampmaster 4700. There are four 1 1/2" drains in each tank and four 3/4" returns. I have 1200 watts of titanium heaters in the sump. The room is insulated so the heat stay in the room. The tanks have a drip system on them. 100 gallons a day enters the tanks and exits to a drain off the sump. In case of a power outage there is a float valve in the sump that turns on when the water gets too low so the pump won't run dry. I am still looking for a pond U/V but that is next on my list to get. There are 9 motoros in the tank. 5 females and 4 males. Biggest ray is 17" and the smallest is 5 1/2". I've had my marble motoro the longest. I thinks its been 3 1/2 years or more. There is also a 14" spotted gar and a 7 inch green severum. I think thats it. I have always loved fish but I am fascinated by freshwater stingrays. They are in my opinion the coolest fish the good lord ever made. Thanks for looking at my post.
