How many K on the bulbs?

Sorry couldn't tell you. Lights and tank were bought used, unless it's written on the bulb somewhere.

Their looking grat Boon, you definently were overdue on showing them off. Nice to see Cartman has healed from the beating his mate gave him.

Thanks

 forgot you gave him that name awhile back.

Awesome fish! How long does it take them to get to that size?

Orange male is about 12" and 3 yrs old. He was purchased three years ago from ACA convention as a fry.

As for the white male I'm not sure about his age, he's 13-14"?

These guys are the best! :grinno:
And great examples how Midas CAN live in harmony with their tankmates.

Just lucky or might be something in my waters, all my Midas' are doing fine in community type setups.

big thick fish, how old are they? You raised or bought them big?

Bob Randall gave me the orange male when it was 6" after successful breeding.

Bought the white male in spring of 08 for $75.

man i really love that solid orange male. if you ever for any reason need to get rid of him you let me know. i'll drive from indy to MN to pick him up and give him a good home. otherwise, keep posting more and more shots of him. :D he's a B-E-A-S-T!

when you say 12" are you meaning standard length or total length?

He's around 12" TL. When I first got him at 6" he was already a year old.

how do you take perfect pics like that. is it the camera?

I use a Canon 20D with slave flash set above the tank.

Built in camera flashes will wash out the fish's colors and cause glares on glass.

They are absoltely beautiful and massive. I hope my little guy will get that thick

Thanks

A food that I found to help beef up new world cichlids is Massivore's Delite.

very nice! makes me want my old FH when i see these pics. what size tank are they in and are they divided? i see other fishes in those pics...very nice tho! that's why i gave my FH because he was too aggressive for my fish.
