what a great post, it sure turned out to look like a beauty. The transformation itself to discovering it's true nature was the real beauty of having that fish. Great keep man I would definitely like to see this progress thread continue.

To be honest I don't mind if he is a Midas, Devil, Midevil (my vote), FH or just a complete mutt. I've called him Muttley from day one as I don't think anyone will ever know his full origin. I really like him, he has one of the strongest personalities of any fish I have owned. His tank is in my office so I get to sit and watch him much more than my two tanks at home and he is always up to something. Rearranging his plants, moving his pot, attacking the cleaning magnet if I leave it inside the glass, or his latest jumping out of the water to attack the new metal lid clips that hold the lid in place . . . .

I just bought some fish that were labeled flowerhorn mixes. I have multiple posts asking people to accurately ID them and after seeing this I think I agree with animal guy. Flowerhorn/red devil. People were calling mine a Midas but the other 2 fish (same fry) look way different in coloration. They all have the same shape. Some have that fader color pattern, some look full blown red devil color, and some a combo. I bought on of each. Hope this helps because it certainly helped me. Check out the pics. I would also like other people's opinions so keep posting!

Wesley I'm not sure I get where you are coming from. You have mutliple posts asking for an ID, people are telling you Midas, they look like a Midas (which come in different colours including ones that peel/fade) yet you still want to say FH x Red devil (which is also not a Midas).
Mate I vote the same as mine, Midas or Midevil. No flowerhorn present. But that is just my opinion.
Back to my topic. Which is how I like my fish and I am happy for him to be whatever. I like the fact I raised him, I like his look and his personality. I am not starting a fish farm, or breeding project, or a species specific local tank. Just an aqaurium in my office with a funny little story.
I mean no offence nor mean to open the ever present debate of midevils, flowerhorns or hybrids in general.
