Its totally fine. Heres how mine is set up and how i feed mine. I have a 20gal long tank w/ a clamp light w/ a 40watt clear household bulb above a basking rock. The hot spot is between 100-105degrees and the cool end is around 78. I use no under tank heat. It drops to 72ish at night. The tank is lined w/ paper towels until he gets bigger. I spot clean everyday and clean everything and change paper towels once a week. I have the basking rock, a smaller rock and a water bowl in the tank w/ no other decor until hes bigger. I also have a 24in. reptisun 10.0 UVB tube light sittin across the cage. No lid since i didnt want to block any light and he cant get out anyways. Lights are on a timer for 14hrs a day. In the morning i mist him from head to tail with warm water a couple times roughly 1.5hrs after the lights go on and 1hr before they go off at night. I dont soak mine, at least not yet. I put cut up greens in in the morning and he'll sometimes take some from tweezers. I feed crickets no bigger than the size of the mouth 3x/day and i dust crickets w/ calcium w/ vit. D one feeding a day(older dragons dont need that much). I also leave a small shallow glass bowl w/ about 10 pheonix worms in the cage all day. Always remove any live food left in the cage at night. I say stay simple w/ your setup and dont handle him until you get him eating and settled in. Heat, bright lights and hydration are the most important things in my opinion to get him eating. Typical day is lights on at 7:15am, mist at 8:30ish and place greens in tank, husband feeds crickets around 10:00-10:30, I feed dusted crickets around 3:30 when i get off work and place pheonix worms in tank, last feeding is around 7:00, mist around 8:15 and remove any food in tank, lights off at 9:15pm. I feed most crickets w/ tweezers and he knows tweezers mean food.
Hope this helps some. Let me know how things go!
